Temple VET Connect
We have teamed up with Aliro, a recruiting platform with a veterans branch, to create a careers fair in hopes of helping veterans meet future employers and recruiters satisfy their needs. Connecting veterans to the resources they need, one job at a time.
We plan on combining resources provided by Temple University veteran outreach, connections to veteran-focused job placement services, and non-profit organizations to reach local veterans seeking jobs, resources, and community. By providing these resources and introductions our veterans will be more successful in transitioning to civilian life and beginning a career. This will be organized as a event either on campus or nearby to provide a centralized location where veterans can speak to recruiters, various veteran-based organizations, and meet other groups. It also will allow them to meet others who are transitioning and create community among peers.
I am a senior Marketing major with a minor in International Business. I enjoy creating a social media presence for startup companies and the freedom to be creative enough to attract more people. I have grown up seeing the impact of an unemployed veteran and I know how much a simple job could increase their quality of life. Through my families annual involvement with gold star moms and having many family friends who have served, I feel that this topic deserves much more attention than it has been given.
I am a senior Marketing major. I have interned at small companies working on their social media marketing. In the past I have worked with organizations that help active military members and I want to start getting involved with veteran job placement. A few of my close friends are in the military and I realize it may be difficult for them to get jobs once they leave whether it be based on education or work experience. I think finding jobs for veterans should be more of a priority.
I am a senior Entrepreneurship and Innovation Management at The Fox School of Business. I currently hold a part-time job at Saxbys as a Team Lead II. This job allows me to see firsthand how a business operates. I strongly value helping others and our planet regularly. Because of this project, I believe my team will be able to improve the quality of life for veterans. By partnering with local startups and associations, we plan to provide help with their job search.
I am a senior Marketing major. I am currently working at Wegmans Food Markets as a part-time floral designer. My job is very hands-on and involves a lot of merchandising. I do hope to own my own business one day so i can control all aspects of the company. I know many veterans that struggle to find jobs but I have not been able to learn in depth about how to help them, therefore, i’m excited to contribute to this project and to strengthen my knowledge on how to help veterans succeed at finding jobs.
I am an Entrepreneurship and Innovation Management major here at the Fox School of Business. Currently, I am working as a regional manager for a legal defense company across two states. I also run two businesses and sit on the boards of two veteran-focused 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations which are nationally and internationally recognized. I am a veteran who served in the United States Marine Corps as a force reconnaissance man and scout sniper. Entrepreneurship, teaching others, and helping with veteran issues are lifelong pursuits of mine. Many people aren’t familiar with issues veterans deal with every day, which is why bringing awareness to these issues is so important with so many veterans transitioning to civilian life every day.
