Lending a Helping Paw

April 7, 2016

The Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society is the only no-kill shelter in Philadelphia.  Every year, over 24,000 abandoned, mistreated, and unwanted animals are placed in the Philadelphia animal control shelter.  6,000 animals are being killed for the lack of proper care and limited space in shelters.  PAWS believes that EVERY animal deserves a chance to live.  PAWS works tirelessly to make sure every animal that enters their facility is loved and well cared for. PAWS help find new homes for thousands of cats and dogs each year.

PAWS is working to make Philadelphia a no-kill city where every animal has a chance to find a loving home. I am volunteering for PAWS because I love animals, and my heart goes to every abandoned and mistreated animal.  As a pet owner myself, I believe that once adapted, pets become part of our families and can never be left behind.  However, sad and unfortunate circumstances leave many animals on the streets.  Stories range from human ignorance to an illness or death of a pet owner…  I am just so thankful that Philadelphia has a place like PAWS where dogs and cats can get second chance at life.

Moreover,PAWS is a place filled with laugher and happiness.  PAWS efforts are privately funded.  There is always a need for volunteers, in-kind and monetary donations.  Please sign up to volunteer for PAWS at

Thank you and see you at PAWS
