My name is Brian Wong and I am in my fifth year at Temple University. My major is accounting and I have two minors which is International Business and Management Information system. As Aurelio pointed out in the previous post, we are donating our time by volunteering for PHS at the Philadelphia Flower Show. With the flower show starting in less than a week, our group is excited to help out because we will be able to learn about horticulture and have other volunteers joining us that will bask in the same experience. In doing so, we want everyone to be aware of PHS’s mission and for them to take action.
Personally, I want to gain more knowledge about horticulture through small workshops offered at the show because I want to learn about cultivation techniques to make my community an attractive place. As I was growing up, the area I grew up in is not the most appealing place you would find in Philadelphia, but through proper use of land we can build a beautiful garden that will attract the community’s attention. As a result, I want to see a neighborhood where everyone will come out and get to know each other. My goal by the end of the semester is to make Philadelphia a place worth exploring and to educate the communities about the benefits of horticulture. The first step in reaching this goal is by volunteering at the flower show.
How You Can Help
Just to remind everyone that the Philadelphia Flower Show is coming up real soon. As a matter of fact, it is this Saturday on March 11 and it is running through March 19. If you want to learn more about PHS then look at the link below and if you want to help out by volunteering then you can click here. In addition, there will be a donation link where your money goes towards building communities and transforming lives through horticulture and you can support our team by using the #TU10x3 either through Facebook or Instagram.
