Morris Animal Refuge is the first animal shelter in the greater Philadelphia area, founded in 1870 by Elizabeth Morris. They take in any animal in any condition. My fellow classmates and I have always had a passion for animals so we chose to do our project on an animal foundation. Morris Animal Refuge was the perfect fit for us, with our busy schedules they are very accommodating and could use any help available. One of the things that attracted our team to Morris Animal Refuge was the different volunteer events they have throughout the semester. During the month of April, they have a Fur Ball Gala, this event is to help raise money, awareness, and possibly a chance to adopt a little fur ball.
Throughout the project so far, our team has had their ups and downs. Creating and implementing a marketing plan is a lot easier said than done. The hardest part for us so far was putting everything in motion. We’ve had so many good ideas about fundraising for our non-profit foundation but getting them all into a plan and committing to them is where we have struggled slightly. Having the professor put us into groups based on our interests has worked in our favor, we all have a strong interest in animals and each one of us has a different personality, giving us a different perspective from five different people. The MBTI assessment we all took earlier in this class really gave us insight into each other, and has allowed us to work better as a team, hopefully soon we will start committing to some of our plans. In the end, we chose Morris Animal Refuge as our foundation due to our interest in animals and because we want to help their organization in any way possible.
