Women Against Abuse

"Join us in the fight against Breast Cancer!"

Our team Be Pink is raising funds and awareness about the Susan G. Komen Foundation and breast cancer on Temple's campus.  We plan to not only raise money but also volunteer at events such as the The Susan G. Komen 3-Day, and more importantly inspire people to believe that it's the little things that make a difference.

“Fighting for the freedom of Philadelphia’s women and children”

Women Against Abuse is Philadelphia’s leading domestic violence advocate and service provider, with the mission of providing quality, compassionate, and nonjudgmental services for people experiencing intimate partner violence. As a team, we want to continue their efforts through advocacy on social media platforms and through on-campus outreach. We will be raising money and collecting supplies for the women and children who find refuge in the emergency safe havens and transitional housing program that Women Against Abuse oversees. We are excited to be partnering with this incredible non-profit organization to work towards ending domestic violence, because their freedom is worth the fight.

Meet the Team

Mia Heirakuji: I am a Junior marketing major in the Fox School of Business. As a young woman, I believe in an equal opportunity for a happy and healthy life. I’m looking forward to partnering with Women Against Abuse because we will work towards ending the cycle of domestic violence within our communities.

Ryan Carr: I am a Senior of International Business at the Fox School. This project is an exciting opportunity to help raise necessary resources for such an important issue as women’s protection from abuse, and make a real impact on the communities around us. I have a history of working with philanthropic organisations, such as the Joel Nafuma Refugee Centre and various wildlife sanctuaries throughout Thailand. This opportunity is exciting to me personally because I am planning a career in the nonprofit sector, and this hands on experience is always highly beneficial to understanding such a complex and unique field.

Ryan McNichols: I am a junior Entrepreneurship major at the Fox School of Business. I believe that domestic violence is a serious issue in our country and worse in many others. Many times it isn’t taken seriously enough or the victims feel that they have nowhere to go for help. Our plan is to work with Women Against Abuse to help women who have been victims move on and start a new chapter in their life.

Brooke Fullman: I am a senior Marketing Major at the Fox School of Business at Temple University. I truly believe that no one should have to go through any type of abuse, especially physical violence. Women Against Abuse is a place where women and children can regain that safety and begin working towards a new life. I look forward to helping people reach their new, safe, beginnings as quickly as possible.

Emilia Lowe: I am a senior marketing major in the Fox School of Business at Temple University. I am excited to work with Women Against Abuse and support the women and children affected by domestic violence issues. Everyone deserves the chance for a happy, healthy life, so I look forward to helping in whatever ways possible.

Charlotte Aguilar: I am a junior Tourism and Hospitality Management Major with a Business Minor. I am passionate about creating a world of nonviolence, especially for my fellow women who are so often the targets of violence.  I believe that working with Women Against Abuse will give this women a chance to break this cycle of violence and live the happy and healthy lives that they deserve.
